The Bourtzi

The other night, Tori and I visited the Bourtzi to watch The Murderess by the famous Alexandros Papadiamantis. It is a dark story about a grandmother who has experienced all the hardships of being a woman and doesn’t want any other girl to go through what she has gone through in her life. Read the book and see what ends up happening!

The Bourtzi is the peninsula located in the town of Skiathos that splits the port into two parts. Originally, it was built as a fort by the Gizi brothers, who ruled Skiathos in the beginning of the 1200s. Archaeologists also believe that the small church of Agios Georgios was located on the peninsula. Currently, it is used as an outside theatre and for musical performances. The views from the Bourtzi are absolutely amazing! It is definitely worth seeing!
